What made you choose the guitar and speed metal as a genre after a classical violin education?After graduating from The Juilliard School as a violin soloist. I realized that CLASSICAL Music was DEAD and IMMEDIATELY needed to be UPDATED with popular music to REACH THE MASSES!! I discovered the electric guitar and speed metal. I quickly picked up the electric guitar and simply took my PAGANINI-STYLE violin technique (a special strong left-hand technique I learned at Juilliard) and transposed it to the guitar. I added STRONG accentings and attacks (which is used in BOTH METAL and BEETHOVEN’S MUSIC). Then I began transcribing EXACT Classical Music scores from Beethoven, Paganini, Bach, Rossini and more for the guitar and speed metal band and BECAME THE GREAT KAT GUITAR GODDESS!!!!

What are your opinions on being compared to Yngwie Malmsteen?

The Great Kat is the only HIGHLY-TRAINED CLASSICAL VIRTUOSO (Juilliard graduate on violin AND composition/theory!) who is CAPABLE of taking NOTE-FOR-NOTE EXACT CLASSICAL MUSIC SYMPHONIC SCORES and transcribing/arranging/editing them for Guitar, Violin, Band and Orchestra!!!!!
